Avoid large upfront purchase taxes
With ÖTV and VAT adding heavily to new-car prices, a monthly fee lets you use a newer car without paying those costs upfront. The taxes are still reflected in the price you pay.
Car subscriptions in Turkey
One monthly payment. No long tie-ins. An independent, editorial guide to car subscription and flexible lease providers in Turkey.
Buying a new car in Turkey is expensive. Special consumption tax (ÖTV), VAT and annual motor vehicle tax (MTV) push prices well above those in much of Europe, and high inflation makes long financing commitments risky.
That has made monthly car rental (aylık araç kiralama) and, more recently, true subscriptions (araç abonelik) an attractive way to drive a newer car without tying up capital.
The subscription segment is still young. SIXT launched SIXT+ in Turkey with rolling 30-day plans, and manufacturers such as Fiat and Jeep have trialled subscription offers for electric models with partners. Most of the market is still made up of large rental companies offering monthly rentals and long-term operational leasing, mainly in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya. Prices are quoted in Turkish lira and can change frequently.
Turkey
With ÖTV and VAT adding heavily to new-car prices, a monthly fee lets you use a newer car without paying those costs upfront. The taxes are still reflected in the price you pay.
Subscriptions typically include motor vehicle tax (MTV), maintenance and tyres, so you avoid separate annual bills.
In a market with volatile prices and currency swings, you avoid the risk of selling a car later for less than expected.
Compulsory traffic insurance and some form of damage cover are usually included, though excesses apply.
Rolling 30-day plans suit expats, project workers and people waiting for a new car delivery.

Guide
To rent or subscribe monthly in Turkey you usually need to be at least 21, hold a driving licence for at least one or two years, show a national ID or passport and pay with a credit card in your name. Some providers carry out a financial assessment after booking. Monthly rentals often include a set kilometre limit, commonly a few thousand kilometres, and charge for extra distance. The car is normally collected from a branch, where the contract is signed, and fuel is paid separately.
Business
Companies in Turkey widely use operational leasing (operasyonel kiralama) and monthly corporate rental for fleets, often for 12 to 36 months. Monthly rental and subscription fees may be treated as business expenses, subject to the limits that apply to passenger cars; consult a financial adviser (mali müşavir) about the treatment for your company.
It is still emerging. SIXT+ is the best-known true subscription, while most providers offer monthly rentals or long-term operational leasing.
Many providers require drivers to be at least 21 with a licence held for at least two years. Some vehicle groups may have higher limits.
Subscription and monthly rental prices generally include MTV and VAT where stated. Always check whether a quoted price includes VAT.
Foreign residents can often rent monthly with a passport, a valid licence and a credit card. Requirements vary, so check with the provider.
With SIXT+, the subscription ends at the end of the current 30-day period and unused days are not refunded. Other providers have their own rules.
