About Volkswagen
Volkswagen was established in 1937 to build an affordable car for Germany, and the factory town that became Wolfsburg grew around it. The Beetle went into large-scale production after the Second World War under British military oversight and went on to sell more than 21 million examples worldwide, making Volkswagen a global name. Its name simply means 'people's car' in German.
The front-drive Golf, launched in 1974, replaced the Beetle as the brand's core model and remains one of Europe's best-known cars. Volkswagen is now the largest brand in the Volkswagen Group, which also includes Audi, Skoda, SEAT, Cupra, Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini. Its UK range covers the Polo, Golf, T-Roc and Tiguan, while the ID. family, including the ID.3, ID.4, ID.7, ID. Buzz and new ID. Polo, makes up its electric line-up. Volkswagen remains one of the best-selling car brands in the UK, and the Golf has long been one of the country's most popular hatchbacks.
Volkswagen on a car subscription
Volkswagen is a sensible subscription choice for drivers who want a familiar, practical car for a set period, such as a family car while between purchases. The ID. models are popular with people trying an EV for the first time, and they can offer low Benefit-in-Kind tax for company car drivers. Check the mileage allowance, the insurance excess on GTI and R models, and the real-world range and charging speed of any ID. model you are considering.
