About Toyota
Toyota Motor Corporation was established in 1937 as an offshoot of Sakichi Toyoda's automatic loom business. After the Second World War it developed the Toyota Production System, a lean manufacturing approach that has been widely studied and copied, and models such as the Corolla went on to become some of the best-selling cars in the world. The company's name is a variant of the founding Toyoda family name.
In 1997 Toyota launched the Prius, the first mass-produced hybrid car, and hybrid technology has been central to the brand ever since. Toyota builds cars in the UK at Burnaston in Derbyshire. Its current range includes the Yaris, Corolla, C-HR and RAV4, mostly offered as hybrids, while its fully electric line-up now includes the Urban Cruiser, C-HR+ and bZ4X. Toyota is one of the world's largest car makers by volume and is known for strong reliability records, and the Toyota Gazoo Racing division produces performance models such as the GR Yaris.
Toyota on a car subscription
Toyota suits subscribers who value reliability and low running costs. Its self-charging hybrids are a good fit for drivers who cannot charge at home, while the Urban Cruiser, C-HR+ and bZ4X offer a way to try an EV with low Benefit-in-Kind tax for company car users. Check the mileage allowance, the real-world range of electric models on longer trips, and whether servicing and breakdown cover are included in the monthly fee.

Toyota subscriptions: FAQs
Can I get a Toyota on a car subscription in the UK?
Yes. Toyota models are offered by a number of UK subscription and short-lease providers, and the brand has also run its own flexible ownership schemes. Availability changes over time.
Which electric Toyotas are available?
Toyota's fully electric UK models include the Urban Cruiser, C-HR+ and bZ4X. Subscription providers may only carry some of these, and newer models can take time to appear.
Is a hybrid Toyota a good alternative to an EV on subscription?
For drivers without home charging, a self-charging hybrid can be a practical middle ground, offering good fuel economy without the need to plug in.
